February 2021 Monthly Update: New Tips For Existing Tools

New Uses For Old Things

We’re well into the new year and it’s time to take a look at the things we have and think:
How could that be better?

The result is a host of new ideas for using tools you already have in new and exciting ways. Now you can do AB testing on your sales copy, find walkthrough videos on making the most of your basic tools, learn how to understand reader behavior, and more.

(And just for fun, we threw in some new things too!)

You ready? Let’s go.

Featured Tip: Run AB testing on your subscription nag

Should your subscription nag copy be short and sweet? Or should it include a list of benefits? Do your readers respond better to coupon codes or purchase offers?

You can use the Ad Dropper plugin to run AB testing on your nag and find the most effective sales copy. Ad Dropper allows you to create and place ads anywhere in your publication.

It works like this:

1. Create your nags as ads in Ad Dropper’s easy-to-use ad builder.

2. Designate both nags as ads for the same ad zone; Ad Dropper will automatically randomize their appearance.

3. Use UTM codes to track the clicks for each version of the ad in Google Analytics. (You can use a tool like Campaign URL Builder to generate the UTM code and use that as the link for each ad.)

4. In Google Analytics, find your as entries under Acquisition Sources, and see which ad generated more clicks.

And just like that, you’re conducting AB testing on your sales copy.
